London Blue is the deepest and most saturated of the commercial blue topaz colour grades — a rich, slightly greyish steel-blue produced, like all blue topaz, through irradiation and heat treatment of colourless rough.

Its colour comes from irradiation and heat treatment of colourless topaz, and a Mohs hardness in this range holds up well to daily wear, making it a practical choice for rings as well as earrings and pendants.
