The Stone of Unconditional Love

Rose quartz is the soft pink variety of quartz, usually found as massive (non-crystalline) material rather than well-formed crystals. Its gentle colour has made it one of the most popular quartz varieties for both jewellery and decorative carving.

Gemologically, rose quartz is described as translucent to transparent, with a vitreous to greasy luster — qualities that shape how it catches and carries light once cut. Its colour comes from trace titanium, or microscopic fibrous mineral inclusions, and a Mohs hardness in this range is durable enough for regular wear, though it benefits from being set thoughtfully and kept away from harder gems in storage.

An Ancient Stone of Beauty

Rose quartz has been worked into beads and jewellery since antiquity, with examples found in Mesopotamian sites dating back several thousand years. It also holds a notable place in beauty history: ancient Egyptian tradition associated rose quartz with preserving youthful skin, and rose quartz facial rollers and masks — a practice often presented as a modern wellness trend — have roots stretching back to this era. Romans and other ancient cultures also used rose quartz for engraved seals, valuing its workability and soft, even colour. This combination of beauty ritual and ornamental use across millennia helps explain rose quartz's enduring association with self-care and gentle, nurturing qualities today.

Folklore and Healing Traditions

The information in this section reflects folklore and crystal-healing belief systems. These are matters of cultural and spiritual tradition, not scientific or medical claims, and are not a substitute for professional medical or financial advice.

Rose Quartz has held a place in decorative arts, folklore, and crystal-healing traditions across cultures for centuries. Those drawn to this dimension of the stone often choose it for its colour and character as much as for any tradition attached to it — a personal, rather than prescriptive, choice.

How Rose Quartz Is Graded

Quality in rose quartz is generally assessed across colour, clarity, cut, and carat weight — with colour and overall character typically the dominant factors in value.

What a Lab Report Confirms

A lab report identifies the species, describes colour, and discloses any treatment. Rose quartz is typically untreated; its colour can fade slightly with prolonged strong light exposure.

Natural, Ethical, Jaipur-Sourced

Every rose quartz in the Paraiso Jewels vault is described accurately as to its natural or treated status on its label. We source through Jaipur's gem market — one of the world's oldest and most concentrated coloured-stone trading centres — and our stones can be verified at GTL Jaipur, the region's principal gem testing authority.

On request, each piece can be accompanied by documentation covering weight, dimensions, and treatment status. If you have questions about the origin or treatment of a specific stone, contact us via WhatsApp or email and we'll provide full details.
